Ephesians 4:11-12 paints a beautiful picture of the five-fold gifts needed to provide balanced, effective leadership in the church. But what strikes me as most important is their job description: to equip God’s people for works of service, or “for the work of the ministry.”

An apostolic view of ministry
The apostle Paul was clear. The risen, ascended Christ gave certain gifted persons – apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers – for one very simple and vitally important reason: “to equip the saints” (Ephesians 4:11-12). These apostolic leadership gifts are not professionals doing the work of ministry; they are equippers, trainers, coaches, provided to resource and empower the members of the Body of Christ so they can effectively do the work of the ministry.
A Commitment to Never Stop Learning
Our encouragement to our CLST Global students, including those who have earned a degree, is to keep learning, keep growing, keeping exposing yourself to empowering, equipping, transformational educational experiences. Commit to never stop learning.
